The Nobel Peace Prize for 2015

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2015

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2015 is to be awarded to the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet for its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011. The Quartet was formed in the summer of 2013 when the democratization process was in danger of collapsing as a result of political assassinations and widespread social unrest. It established an alternative, peaceful political process at a time when the country was on the brink of civil war. It was thus instrumental in enabling Tunisia, in the space of a few years, to establish a constitutional system of government guaranteeing fundamental rights for the entire population, irrespective of gender, political conviction or religious belief.

Meeting and General Assembly
Tuesday June 10th at 18:30

In the Tunisian Embassy, Drammensveien 82 c, 0271 - Oslo

Dear friends and members,

We are pleased to invite you to our meeting which is taking place on Tuesday June 10th at 18:30 in the premises of the Tunisian Embassy, Drammensveien 82 c.

It is impressive to witness the wind towards democracy that is blowing in and around Tunisia after the nearly unanimous vote in the Constitutional Assembly for a new and liberal Constitution.
Most countries in our part of the world are lining up to assist Tunisia in its delicate process to become the first democracy in the Arab world.
In Oslo, the Tunisian Embassy took the initiative of organizing a successful Business symposium with solid representation from public and private sectors in the two countries.
Our association has had a promising meeting with Secretary of State Morten Høglund in UD to promote public support to private joint ventures between Norway and Tunisia, and to reconsider
the warning for tourists considering Tunisia.

On this background we have succeeded in having as our speaker this time Hassine Doghri, a profiled and influential Tunisian businessman/investor and also the Honorary Consul General for Norway in Tunis.

The meeting will start with a very quick General Assembly:
• Approval of summons
• Board report
• Accounts
• Election

.At the end of the meeting we shall all enjoy the Embassy’s famous Tunisian buffet with refreshments.
Please, inform us about your attendance, at the latest on Wednesday 4th of June.
We hope to see many of you.

Best regards,

Petter (91 51 11 99) and Leif (91 53 44 55)
